Echoes - November 2019

December 6, 2019

December's issue, like this year's Grammy nominations, is slanted towards the veterans. Founder member and lead guitarist Cat Coore tells the story of Third World's acclaimed new album More Work To Be Done, produced by Damian Marley, who's so pleased with it, they've already started work on the follow-up!

My other feature takes an in-depth look at Studio 17 - The Lost Reggae Tapes, which is an outstanding and sometimes heartbreaking documentary about a son (Clive Chin) struggling to preserve his father's legacy, i.e., Randy's famous record store and studio in downtown Kingston, home to hits by Lord Creator, Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh, Augustus Pablo and many other greats during the sixties and seventies.

In the album pages you'll find reviews of Buju Banton's Long Walk To Freedom, the Sprinter soundtrack, Lenky Marden's instrumental Project 1966 and Lee "Scratch" Perry's dub album Heavy Rain, whilst Run The Track includes singles by Jesse Royal & Randy Valentine, Chronixx & The Free Nationals, Richie Spice, Etana, Bay C and Reggae Roast.
