Echoes - September Issue

The reggae world has lost so many seminal figures in recent years that it truly feels like the end of an era. We pay tribute to two more in this latest Echoes - Lee "Scratch" Perry, who died in suspicious circumstances whilst undergoing treatment at a Jamaican hospital and then UB40 sax player and founder member Brian Travers, who finally lost his battle with cancer after a lengthy illness. I met both on numerous occasions and whilst they were very different personalities, the loss of such talented individuals hurts just the same.

Our other main reggae feature shines a light on the Upper Cut Band, whose debut album Painting On Silence has songs by artists like Kabaka Pyramid, Carroll Thompson, Earl 16 and Glen Washington, whilst Xterminator, Jah Sun & Rising Tide, Manudigital and Iya Terra all feature in the pages devoted to album reviews.

Run The Track meanwhile, has reviews of new singles by Spice, Jemere Morgan, Macka B, Jesse Royal, Inna Vision, Christopher Martin, Busy Signal and Buju Banton, among others.
