Reggae Vibes 77 - September 2022

Reggae Vibes is the leading French publication for reggae music and has been for nearly fifteen years now. I'm honoured to have been a regular contributor for much of its journey and to have written this month's cover feature on Burning Spear, whose comeback appearances have been a highlight of the summer season, capped by a headlining performance at Rototum.

In my hour long long conversation with Spear we covered a range of topics, from his early days in St. Ann's and introduction to the teachings of Marcus Garvey, his views on today's music and world affairs, his life in New York and details of a forthcoming album. Also his bid to persuade the Jamaican government to declare Marcus Garvey's birthday a national holiday, and incorporate knowledge of the great man in the school curriculum.
