I first interviewed Bitty McLean when he was enjoying success on the UK national charts with tracks recorded at UB40's studio in his native Birmingham. That was in the early nineties. He was very self effacing for a young pop star, and my liking and admiration for him has only increased since. He's proven himself in Jamaica as well as everywhere else, and I remember watching with pride as he appeared at Montreux one year, backed by Sly and Robbie.
